* Consider using annual Medicare benefits for Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSMT) and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for diabetes education. DSMT coverage is up to 10 hours of education for the first year and up to 2 hours for subsequent years. MNT coverage is up to 3 hours of education the initial year of referral and up to 2 hours for subsequent years.
